In 1987, a group of concerned citizens used the political process to publicize the fact that AIDS patients were dying on the streets of Los Angeles. The result of their efforts was AIDS Healthcare Foundation.
Advocacy is firmly entrenched in our efforts to eradicate AIDS worldwide. From sponsoring legislation, employing litigation and organizing grassroots campaigns, we advocate in the name of quality health care believing we can only provide truly excellent care if our voice is heard. |

Actions by Los Angeles City bureaucrats are threatening AHF's Linn House with closure. Ask the Mayor to "have a heart" and help save this important facility, a former AIDS hospice care site now used as a center for crucial health care operations serving thousands of Angelenos living with HIV/AIDS. | | AIDS Drug Prices to Die for
As part of its efforts to lower drug prices and improve access to lifesaving AIDS treatments globally, AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is criticizing US drug giant Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) in a print advertising campaign this week for its steep pricing in Mexico and other "middle income countries" for two of its AIDS treatments: Reyataz (atazanavir) and Videx (didanosine), both of which can be key components of effective combined AIDS drug regimens. AB 1894 Krekorian –Insurance Coverage of an HIV Test |
| | | AHF is the sponsor of the AB 1894, authored by Assembly member Paul Krekorian, which would require all group or individual health insurance plans to pay for an HIV test regardless if the testing is related to a primary diagnosis. Under current law, health plans and insurance carriers provide coverage for an HIV test when determined to be medically necessary.

AB 2899 Portantino- Counseling Reform |
| | | Sponsored by AIDS Healthcare Foundation and authored by Assembly member Anthony Portantino this bill would require the State Department of Public Health to develop an HIV counseling program by July 1st, 2009 that would provide for flexibility in the counseling of persons testing for HIV statewide. The pilot as now started at Solano State Prison.
